Peruvian silver 950 is a special silver used for handmade silver jewelry in Peru. There are different levels of purity, Pure silver (100%) means Silver 1000, it is very soft and for this reason it can’t be used in jewelry work. The silver which is use for all our collections is silver 950; this is an alloy of 95% silver with 5% copper.
During the Inca Empire, silver was a very important material, since it constituted the base for sophisticated metallurgic alloys. Gold and Silver were closely related to the sun and the moon, which represented gods during those times because of their shine and colors these precious metals were used for their religious offerings and ceremonies.
